On
April 13, 1970, disaster struck 200,000 miles from earth when oxygen tank No. 2
exploded aboard Apollo 13. The mission commander radioed back to earth,
"Houston, we've had a problem," and moments later it was discovered that the
normal supply of oxygen, electricity, light, and water had been disabled.
