Loads of ripe, dark fruit showing black cherries, black plum and currant,
followed by hints of brown spice with roast coffee and chocolate
filling out the aromas.  The finish is full and lively.

10. Bennett Lane Maximus, Napa     2003                      $59
A blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Zinfandel.  Well balanced,
with soft, elegant tannins that frame a core of black cherry and
plum flavors.  Long on the finish.

Red Zinfandel
A dark red, full-bodied, vibrant wine, with deep flavors of blackberry jam, plum, black pepper and spice. Coarser then the other reds. Great for hearty dishes.

28. Lambert Bridge, Sonoma County  2001                    $49
Aromas of black pepper mix with berry flavors.  With its
forward fruit, soft tannins and lingering finish it will
accompany a wide range of dishes.

Pinot Noir

With smooth, polished, and elegant aromas of cherry, blackberry 
and plum.  This wine delivers on its promises with intense black cherry
and blackberry flavors throughout the sublime finish.

42. Saintsbury, Napa                 2003                               $47
Smooth and supple, with ripe plum, tea, tar and spice notes.  
Finishes with a clean cherry flavor.

32. Cycles Gladiator. Central Coast  2005                      $29
Ripe black cola with a hint of spiciness on the nose.  Core flavors of
cherry and plum fill the mouth while the soft, velvety tannins keeps 
the wine suspended into the finish.

33. Montinore, Oregon    2005                                         $39
Sweet bouquet of black cherry and blackberry,
flavors are sweet and multi-layered, finishing with
chocolate and vanilla notes.

Chardonnay
A white wine, full-bodied and richly fruit flavored with tones of apples, pears, vanilla, spices, and toast. Richer than Sauvignon Blanc. Good with more complex dishes (cream sauces) and to drink by itself.

85. Merryvale Silhouette, Napa      2003                    $75
This wine was fermented in French oak barrels with native yeast,
a method that accentuates the richness of the wines mouthfeel.
Silhouette is dense, rich and complex, with a long smoky,
toasty oak finish.

Clean and fruity on the palate, boasting a spicy range of pear, vanilla,
nutmeg and subtle citrus flavors that are complex and lively.

Sauvignon Blanc
Also known as Fume Blanc, this white wine is dry and crisp with citrus and light grassy flavors. An excellent food wine. Great with seafood chicken and lighter first courses.

Ripe and lively, with very good concentration to the
Flavors of nectarine, fresh herbs and vanilla.

30. Soliloquy-Flora Springs, Napa Valley       2005          $45
It is focused with fruit, sensation of melon and vanilla on the palate.
The finish is smooth and long, with that extra "zing" at the end.

39.  Merryvale, Napa Valley                2005                     $41
This wine is a blend with 6% Semillion.
Refreshing with citrus and melon notes with added
Complexity from fermentation in French oak barrels.

Johannisberg Riesling

A fruity, flowery aroma with a cinnamon taste. Seems on the sweet side. Good with fish and chicken.

Soft, floral and spicy, this smooth textured wine has modest peach flavors.

44. Montinore, Oregon    2005                                         $29
Rich in citrus aromas and flavors.  The grapes were left on the vine as late
as possible to  become very ripe and covered with Botrytis Cinerea "the
Noble rot."   Sugar 5.5%

Gewürztraminer
A fruity, sweeter wine. Tastes like spicy peaches and sometimes lychee. Good with spicy dishes or for people who prefer a sweeter wine.

palette with a hint of minerality off-dry on the finish

 

Chenin Blanc
A fruity but dry white wine with overtones of melons, oranges and peaches. A great food wine.

36. Pine Ridge, Napa Valley 2001                               $24
Fruity though dry, this enticing white reaches out with distinctive
peach and mandarin orange flavors, balanced nicely by a flinty edge. 
A lovely sipper at a reasonable price.

89. Dry Creek, California    2001                                $22
A very good bottling of one of California's rarer varieties, this white is light,
lively and bright, with a nicely delicate finish.  Not totally dry, but artfully balanced.

White Zinfandel
A light, sweeter and fruity wine.

52. Buehler, Napa 2003                                              $20
Hand picked Napa Valley fruit, riper than most producers.  That means
less sugar and more flavors like wild berries and strawberries.  The
result is a wine with more real Zinfandel berry character and a less sweet
more refreshing
taste

                                    Rare white grape is one of the most difficult to grow.
                                                                   Spicy and floral.


45. Renwood, Lodi    2004                                             $31
Somewhat lean in texture, this carries the varietal pedigree
of spice, melon, peach and citrus flavors.  Bright on the
finish, refreshing on the whole.

                 Pinot Grigio
                               Soft, gently perfumed and has more color than most whites.

49. Swanson,  Napa        2004                                                             $41
Generous aromas of ultra-fresh melon, peaches and pear with
background mineral tones.  The finish is clean

Rich in apple, pear and honeysuckle aromas.

The Malbec grape, originally from Bordeaux France, produces this
Full-bodied yet soft and well-balanced dry wine, with aromas of
red fruit with a rich and spicy finish.

402. Santa Julia, Chardonnay    2004                                             $24
Classic fruit forward Chardonnay.  Opens with aromas
of peach and pear.  On the palate, a little butter, pear and spice.

Full-bodied, medium dry with a lovely aroma of roses, accompanied
by flavors of ripe peach and litchi.  Fruity on the front and finishes
a bit dryer with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.

Very good deep red.  Aromatically complex nose combines raspberry,
licorice and minerals.  Sweet but firmly structured.  Finishes very firm 
and a bit dry.

Very traditional in its style and heavy body of rich fruit.
Finishing nicely a must buy for amarone lovers.

Very pretty blackberry, mahogany cedar character
